E-invoicing and e-reporting: the complete guide for hair salons, beauty salons and spas

E-invoicing, e-reporting, approved platform, NF525… The invoicing reform being rolled out in France between 2026 and 2027 raises a lot of questions for owners of hair salons, beauty salons and spas. This complete guide brings together every date, every obligation and the exact role of RDV360, so you know precisely what to do, and when. Keep it handy: it’s your reference.

E-invoicing and e-reporting: the timeline

Here are all the deadlines that concern you, from the earliest to the furthest away.

DateWhat changesWhat it means for a salon
Since January 1, 2018Certified POS software mandatory (NF525, the French certification for POS software).Applies to all retailers subject to VAT. RDV360 is NF525 certified: nothing to do on your side.
September 1, 2026Receiving supplier invoices in electronic format for all businesses. Issuing B2B invoices and e-reporting for large and mid-sized companies only.Your only obligation on that date: being able to receive your supplier invoices through an approved platform. Issuing B2B invoices and e-reporting don’t apply to you yet.
September 1, 2027Issuing B2B invoices and e-reporting of sales become mandatory for small businesses.Applies to very small businesses, SMEs, micro-entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals, meaning most hair salons, beauty salons and spas. For you, this means e-reporting of your sales to individual consumers: RDV360 will handle it automatically, in time for the deadline.

The 3 obligations not to confuse

This is where all the misunderstanding comes from: people talk about “e-invoicing” as if it were one thing, when in reality there are three separate requirements, plus POS certification.

1. Issuing invoices (B2B)

This is the obligation to send your invoices between businesses in electronic format, through an approved platform. It only concerns invoices addressed to other companies (B2B), not receipts given to individual consumers.

2. Receiving supplier invoices

This is the obligation to be able to receive your suppliers’ invoices (rent, products, service providers) in electronic format. It applies to everyone, even if you only invoice individual consumers.

3. E-reporting

This is sending the tax authorities data on your sales to individual consumers (what comes out of your POS). No invoice to issue client by client: aggregate data is reported periodically.

What about NF525?

That’s a separate topic: NF525 certifies the reliability of your POS software (inalterability, security, retention, archiving). It has existed since 2018. To learn more, see our article on RDV360’s NF525 certification and our FAQ on the 3 obligations.

Does it apply to you? The case of beauty businesses

The vast majority of hair salons, beauty salons and spas invoice individual consumers. In practice, for you:

  • Issuing B2B invoices: applies only if you invoice companies (works council, resale to a fellow professional, a service for a company). Otherwise, you’re not part of this flow.
  • Receiving: it applies to you from September 1, 2026, like everyone else, because you receive invoices from suppliers.
  • E-reporting: your sales to individual consumers will have to be reported, from September 1, 2027 for very small businesses and SMEs.

E-reporting frequencies by VAT regime

The transmission frequency isn’t set by your software, but by the regulations, based on your VAT regime. Here are the most common cases.

VAT regime

Transmission frequency

Standard regime, monthly filing

3 filings per month, by ten-day period (1-10, 11-20, 21-end of month), within 10 days.

Standard regime with quarterly filing, or simplified regime

Monthly.

VAT exemption for small businesses (franchise en base) and other regimes

Every two months (one filing every 2 months).

Most beauty professionals fall under the VAT exemption for small businesses or the simplified regime: for them, transmission will be monthly or every two months, and fully automatic. Details in our article on e-reporting.

What RDV360 does, and what it doesn’t

Let’s be perfectly clear, because this is the source of a lot of confusion.

What RDV360 does

  • An NF525-certified POS: your payments are secured, nothing to set up.
  • E-reporting of your sales to individual consumers (what comes out of your POS) to the DGFiP (the French tax authorities), through our partner SuperPDP, a platform approved by the French government.

E-reporting only becomes mandatory on September 1, 2027 for very small businesses and SMEs, which covers almost all salons: RDV360 will handle it automatically, in time for the deadline and without changing anything in the way you work.

What RDV360 doesn’t do

  • RDV360 is not accounting software.
  • RDV360 doesn’t issue invoices: issuing invoices between businesses (B2B) isn’t part of its role.
  • It doesn’t handle receiving your supplier invoices: that’s not our business.

For receiving invoices, the right move is to use your accountant’s approved platform, or a dedicated tool. For self-employed professionals and very small businesses, free approved solutions exist (Abby, Tiime, Indy). Everything is detailed in our article on receiving supplier invoices.

Your roadmap, deadline by deadline

By September 1, 2026

  • Choose an approved platform to receive your supplier invoices (or use your accountant’s).
  • Register in the DGFiP directory with your SIREN (French company registration number).
  • Check that your POS is NF525 certified (it is with RDV360).

On September 1, 2027

  • E-reporting of your sales to individual consumers becomes mandatory for very small businesses and SMEs. RDV360 will handle it automatically: nothing to install, nothing to declare yourself.
  • Issuing invoices between businesses (B2B) also becomes mandatory, but it only applies to you if you invoice companies. A salon that only sells to individual consumers isn’t part of this flow.

In short

For the vast majority of hair salons, beauty salons and spas: your POS is already NF525 certified, your e-reporting will be handled automatically by RDV360 in time for the 2027 deadline, and the only step to plan for on your side is getting organized to receive your supplier invoices before September 2026. Nothing insurmountable, as long as you prepare calmly.
